Monday’s Memorial Day program at Mabry Park reinforced a theme of ‘Uncommon Patriotism’ that Sumter County is known for as a new addition to the site was unveiled. Ground was officially broken for a new Veterans Park slated to open by year’s end.
Flags of all the services and a replica P-51 Mustang will be key features of the park, which is being built in a partnership between the City of Sumter, Sumter County Government and the state of South Carolina.
