Learning all about percussion was the name of the game Tuesday morning at the Sumter County Library as David Shoemaker and Hugh China taught a free workshop that introduced dozens of students to the world of drums and rhythm.
Shoemaker, the Technical Director at Patriot Hall, is a seasoned musician and multi-instrumentalist who was happy to help lead a class in the basics of percussion with good friend Hugh China, also an accomplished musician.
Sumter County Library Director Robert Harden said the class fit in nicely with the Summer theme of "Libraries Rock!"
Next up on the calendar at the Sumter County Library's Main Branch at 111 North Harvin Street is a movie. "Ferdinand" will play at 10 a.m. and 2 p.m. on Wednesday, July 11.
At 10 a.m. on Thursday at the Wesmark Branch, STEM: Makey-Makey will be held and you can call 469-8110 to register. Friday at the Main Branch is a 10 a.m. performance: Yasu's Magic Show.
