Know your precinct and polling place


As Tuesday's primary gets underway at 7 a.m., please be aware of your precinct and polling place.

Sumter County Voter Registration and Elections Director Pat Jefferson would also like to remind folks that the new polling place for the Hampton Park precinct is Sumter County Recreation & Parks at 155 Haynsworth Street. Please see attached PDF for your precinct and polling place.

Polls are open on Tuesday, June 12, 2018 from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m.

Sumter School District requests millage increase from County Council


Sumter School District Superintendent Dr. Debbie Hamm requested from Sumter County Council on Tuesday evening a millage rate increase of 5.48 mills, equivalent to an increase of $1,057,251 for its upcoming fiscal year.

Hamm was joined by the district’s Finance Director Chris Griner as they used a PowerPoint presentation to update council members on various aspects of the district such as culture and environment, teacher retention, strategies, career readiness, improving customer service expectations, savings and proposed expenditures.

We have a budget! New!


On June 12, 2018, Sumter County Council approved the third and final reading for Fiscal Year 2018-2019 Budget Ordinance.  This year’s budget proposal was balanced at $52,752,483 revenues and expenditures with “NO TAX INCREASE.”
