Rural Fire Station Construction and Renovation

Fire protection is a keystone of home security and with improvements to sixteen rural fire stations throughout Sumter County, the safety and security of rural residents will improve. Cherryvale, Dabbs, Wedgefield, Dalzell, Bethel, Pinewood, Rembert, Concord, Horatio, Oswego, Graham, Pleasant Grove, Mayesville, DuBose, Byrd, and 521 South will all benefit.



Project Purpose

Many of Sumter County's rural fire stations are in rough shape, and in bad need of modernization and repair. This project is improving many of our rural fire stations to ensure they meet current state and local codes for the safety of local volunteer fire fighters and the residents they serve.

Project Details

  • Cherryvale, Dabbs, Wedgefield, and Bethel Stations will be the locations for new stations. 
  • Pinewood, Dalzell, Rembert, Concord, Horatio and Oswego Stations will all receive renovations and/or additions. Some of these renovations include painting, wiring, new ceiling tiles, new HVAC units, bathroom upgrades and other improvements.
  • Graham, Mayesville, Pleasant Grove, Dubose, and Byrd's will receive improvements such as parking, roofing, painting, carpet and new furnishings.
  • The Manning Road (Hwy 521) Station will receive an addition and upgrades to the existing building.

Expenditures:               2,463,663.19
Budget Remaining:        536,336.81
